Sebring Fan Scores Big at Petit Le Mans
After attending the 12 Hours of Sebring for 22 consecutive years, Ginger Robbins and her husband finally made the trip north to attend their first Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta in 2012. The two longtime American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón fans were handsomely rewarded for their journey, as Robbins was selected at random to receive four tickets to either Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida or Petit Le Mans in 2013.
It was a fellow ALMS fan from Canada, whom Robbins met at Sebring, that encouraged the couple to go to Petit Le Mans. Today, Robbins is mighty glad she took that advice because a simple questionnaire filled out at Road Atlanta led to her being selected to win four tickets to next year's ALMS season opener or finale.
The couple's luck didn't end there. They were selected for a personal tour of the paddock with their favorite team -Team Falken Tire - led by drivers Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers.
"It was awesome," Robbins said. "We really got to see how the team prepares for a race and what goes into the thoughts behind the technical aspect of racing."
Though Sebring is naturally Robbins' favorite event - it's in the Wesley Chapel, Fla., resident's backyard - her experience at Road Atlanta has moved Petit Le Mans to the top of the list alongside the 12 Hours. Because of that, she's hoping she can split her four tickets between the two events. When the couple isn't at the race track, they catch all of the ALMS races on TV.
The 61st running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida is set for Saturday, March 16, at Sebring International Raceway. For information on tickets and accommodations, visit www.sebringraceway.com.
